Submission Guideline for Authors

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these regulation is to present provisions regarding submission of journals to the “International Journal of Human Movement Science" (hereinafter referred as the "journal") published by the Korean Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, under the Article XLVⅢ of the Korean Journal of Physical Education and Article VII Sec. 7 of the Korean Journal of Physical Education Editorial Board Provisions.

Article 2 (Types of Papers)

The types of papers includes Research Paper, Note, Review paper.

Article 3 (Exclusion of duplicated submission)

Any paper that was previously submitted to another domestic or foreign publication may not be submitted to this journal. The submitted paper can not be submitted to other journals arbitrarily.

Article 4 (Manuscript Language)

English shall be used.

Article 5 (Manuscript Type and Format)

The manuscript must be submitted as a MS word file with following formats:

  • 1. The font must be in Time New Roman style with a size of 10 points
  • 2. The Abstract must be under 10 lines.

Article 6 (Manuscript Submission)

Manuscripts shall be submitted via online manuscript submission section on our website (http://www.ijhms.org). During the submission, the author must file a 'copyright transfer consent form', and a ‘letter of manuscript ethicality confirmation' with the paper.

Article 7 (Research Ethics Reinforcement)

The author shall examine the rate of plagiarism of the paper with KCI 'similarity checking service among journal articles' provided by the Korea Research Foundation and submit the result.

Article 8 (Indication of Authors)

Submitted manuscripts should not include any information about the author. Name of the author, affiliated institution, corresponding author and other information should be directly entered to the submission system.

Article 9 (Manuscript Structure)

The paper shall be written in following orders: Only if the form of literature research, it should follow the format of the introduction, conclusion, and discussion. And the format for the remaining parts of the manuscript should be appropriately selected according to the characteristics of the paper topic and method.

Article 10 (References and Citations)

References and citations should follow the APA (American Psychological Association) publication manual.

  • 1. When citing, only the family name (last name) should be written.
  • 2. Short quotes (less than 40 words) should be quoted in quotation marks (" ") when included in the text as well as the page number of the source. Quotations of more than 40 words should be written separately from the text and include quotation marks with the page number at the end of the sentence (e.g., p. 17 or pp. 10-11). When describing the quotation separately, change the paragraph and write 5 letters each on the left and right sides.
  • 3. When citing, the text should include suggested citations and complete source should be included under references.
  • 4. If the author of a source is from an institution, the full name of the institution should be stated and the abbreviation can be used throughout the text.
  • 5. In the field of human science, Note and/or Endnote can be used, and should appear after references. Footnotes are not used in the text.
  • 6. When citing one or two authors, each should be mentioned everytime they are cited in the text.

  • 7. When there are three or more authors (up to five), the last name of all authors need to be cited, however, when the reference is repeatedly cited, only the first author's last name need to be mentioned followed by et al..

  • 8. If the last name of the author and the year of the publication are the same, the initials of the author should be written.

  • 9. When two or more works are by the same author, cite them in the order of earliest first with a "," to separate the references and do not repeat the author.

  • 10. Identify works by the same author with the same publication date by using the suffixes a, b, c and without mentioning the author repeatedly.

  • 11. Separate the references with (;) when several references are being citing for the same sentence. The foreign author in the order of the English alphabet.

  • 12. If there are more than six authors, the last name of the first author followed by et al. need to be cited with the year. In the references, names of all authors need to be cited.

  • Article 11 (Reference Guideline)

    The American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines should be followed for reference writing. In order to list the references, firstly, the documents need to be listed in alphabetical order. The details are as follows.

    • 1. Periodicals
      • - Author(year): The last name should be written and the first name should be written in initials. A comma (,) should be marked after the last name and if there are two or more authors, use “&” before the last author. The year of the publication should be written in parentheses after the author.
      • - Title of manuscript: Only the first letter of the first word of the title and the subtitle (Title after ":") need to be capitalized. All the other letters need to be in lower case.
      • - Name of Journal: It needs to be written in italic and should not be abbreviated.
      • - Volume number and page: Mark each number of the volume. The volume number should be in italic.

    Article 12 (Review & Publishing Fee)

    Reviewing and publishing fees are free.

    Article 13 (Deadline for manuscript submission)

    Manuscript may be submitted at anytime.

    Article 14 (Other Matters)

    Editorial committee will determine publication guidelines that are not listed in the above.

    1. The revision of this by-law must be deliberated by the board of editors and approved by the board of directors. 2. These Articles of Association shall be effective from the day of approval by the board of directors.
